Job Summary
The Assistant Transportation/Operations Leader position provides key support for delivery services in Jackson, MS and the greater area surrounding it. The position is responsible for managing the daily operations of drivers/ carriers. In addition, the Assistant Transportation/Operations Leader maintains positive and ongoing relationships with external customers and freight partners.
Job Duties
Manage a team of Drivers/ Carriers operating 6 days per week
Ability to multi-task various functions simultaneously
Complete Team Leader reports in a timely, accurate manner
Follow DOT/OHSA/FMCSA and other standards
Build relationships with customers to ensure continued operating improvements
Communication at all organizational levels
Use of computers including Microsoft Office and other programs.
Occasionally deliver freight to customer locations
Qualifications/ Requirements
At least 2 Years Professional Driving experience required
At least 2-3Years Leadership/Management Experience required.
At least 2-3 Years Transportation and Operations Management Experience required
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team consisting of no less than 5 people
Experience in the development of carrier base operation
Excellent written/ verbal communication skills
Excellent Driving Record
Must be willing to work flexible schedule and long hours
Proficient in general computer use, including Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent interpersonal skills and problem solving ability
Knowledge of DOT, FMSCA regulations
Valid Driver''s License (Commercial Preferred)
Able to stoop, kneel, bend, and lift packages that may exceed 50 lbs.
Able to operate a forklift ( prefer certification)
Must be skilled in operating box/straight trucks and cargo vans
Candidates are subject to criminal background, drug and alcohol screenings.
