The purpose of this job is to review and evaluate consumer loan applications and render approval or denial decisions based upon bank credit qualifying criteria.
Approve, decline, or conditionally approve consumer loan application packages and provide supporting documentation
Perform analysis of the credit transaction by receiving the credit score(s), credit quality of the personal credit bureau reports, debt ratios, collateral, structure, adjusted net worths, etc.
Prepare loan recommendation for the Retail Second Review Committee
Ensure compliance with bank regulatory requirements
Interact with lenders and Community Bank Presidents to determine appropriate low and high side overrides
Assist Sr. Underwriter in reviewing loan decisions of junior underwriters.
Advanced knowledge in consumer credit analysis and experience in consumer lending
Advanced knowledge in bank lending policies and regulatory requirements
Extensive knowledge of credit scoring principles and principles of finance
Knowledge of loan documentation and collateral perfection requirements
Communication skills
Computer skills
Interpersonal skills
Four year college degree or high school degree with minimum 2 years underwriting experience
